One of the cool reasons for moving here...

Well, it's hard to believe, but it's been going on three years now since we left Ohio to put down roots in North Carolina.  I've written a few things about living here and getting familiar with the customs, language, driving (I can't believe but at least 2, maybe 3 cars always go through the red light when the signal changes and you have to pay attention!)  and food. And these things are all pretty cool in their own right,  but I don't think I have really talked about all the fun (??) we've had developing our yard into a nice place. It's kinda nice having plants that don't get frozen out in the winter, and having things that actually grow year-round.

So we have planted, replanted, watered, fertilized, watered some more and now, almost 3 years later, we are seeing the results.  We are actually seeing some of the same kinds of flowers, trees, bushes that we used to admire while looking at Southern Living magazines in the middle of the ice storms in Ohio.

So, here are some pictures of how things look going into this summer.  Enjoy.

These are the Guardians of the Garden. Do you see any resemblance to Pam and me?

Our bird feeding stations have really attracted quite a collection of colorful visitors.  The hummingbird and the one on the top of the pine tree were the only ones home at the time. The one at the top of the pine is waiting for me to vacate the area so she can come back to her nest.

We have a screened-in porch on the back of the house and it is really relaxing to sit out there in the morning for coffee and in the evening to watch the birds. We also have quite a collection of robins, cardinals, yellow finches, crows, sparrows, morning doves and even an occasional hawk which immediately gets yelled at by Pam.

And last, one of the things I am really happy to have is the fire ring.  Can't tell you how many times I have sat out at night with a fire going.

We have been back to Ohio twice since moving here, and were able to visit with old friends, play golf, see some of the family and see places where worked, lived and made memories.  We got to have dinner with old friends, and put about 1,650 miles on the Jeep each time!  Time and money well, well spent.

You're always just one decision away from a totally different life.
